Review: Sisley’s new Phyto-Teint Perfection

It has been several weeks since I started testing Sisley’s new Phyto-Teint Perfection, a little gem that stood out positively among the numerous foundations I periodically test. Following the recent trend in makeup products, Phyto-Teint Perfection also promises to work as both a skincare product and a true makeup item.

The new Sisley foundation features a new look, abandoning the characteristic zebra-patterned packaging. The new packaging emphasizes elegance and minimalism. The bottle is made of frosted glass with a gold cap and a gold-and-white pump dispenser, featuring clean and elegant lines. The new design is modern, sophisticated, and timeless, yet practical to handle and pleasing to display.

Phyto-Teint Perfection promises immediate and long-lasting hydration, smoother skin, and a more radiant complexion with each application. Its formulation seems to confirm this. A key component in its composition is the Ideal Skin Complex, an enticingly named complex that promises to improve the appearance of the skin and offer the three aforementioned benefits thanks to three key ingredients.

Deep hydration is guaranteed by cucumber extract, a plant known for its hydrating and refreshing properties. Targeted action on pores comes from green lentil extract, which helps minimize the appearance of enlarged pores. The brightened complexion is achieved through peach blossom extract, known for its antioxidant and soothing properties, contributing to a more even and luminous complexion.

Of course, a foundation alone can never replace the benefits of a well-done skincare routine. However, this foundation adds an extra benefit thanks to its formulation. It adds additional ingredients, those of the patented complex, to the usual actives we introduce in our routine based on our specific needs. This skincare effect should show results with continued use over time, alongside the actual cosmetic effect of the foundation, which is to even out the complexion, cover any blemishes and discoloration, and visually improve the skin’s appearance.

Phyto-Teint Perfection promises what marketing loves to call a second-skin effect, though this promise is now made by most foundations on the market. Thanks to new technologies, the formulations of new foundations offer weightless textures that remain imperceptible on the face, blending with the complexion and giving an improved skin effect. The formula of Phyto-Teint Perfection fits this description. Its texture is light, creamy but thin. The product is silicone-based, which is noticeable when applying it with fingers. Once applied, however, it does not sit on the surface but blends with the skin, almost imperceptible. The skin appears even, more radiant, and smooth, with less visible pores.

For those looking for medium to high coverage, this product might be the answer. Phyto-Teint Perfection allows for buildable coverage. The first layer provides medium coverage, which becomes medium-high with a second application but not total. All this while maintaining an extremely lightweight feel on the skin. The product remains imperceptible on the face, both in feel and appearance. Adding more layers increases coverage without weighing down the look. The mattifying formula remains luminous and natural, and the result on the skin is surprisingly light. The skin appears not only flawless but also visibly healthier.

Application and Duration

Phyto-Teint Perfection scores points for its application as well. It spreads easily without streaks, with a short drying time that allows for proper application. It gives great results whether applied with fingers or a brush, though I liked it less with a sponge. While the sponge makes the product even more imperceptible on the skin, it slightly compromises coverage. For a complete and even application with a brush, about one and a half pumps of product are needed. Two full pumps are necessary with sponges like the beauty blender. Phyto-Teint Perfection has excellent staying power, lasting all day without touch-ups. It is also transfer-proof and works even without being set with powder. However, in my experience, setting it with Givenchy’s loose powder gives an impeccable final effect.

Shade Guide

Phyto-Teint Perfection offers 29 shades, with most tones available in three different undertones: warm, cool, or neutral, making it easy for most complexions to find the right match. However, caution is needed when choosing the color because it tends to oxidize, like most formulations containing skincare actives. When purchasing, it is advisable to test or swatch the foundation and let it sit for a few minutes before choosing your shade.

Who It’s Recommended For

In my opinion, this product is quite versatile. It can suit combination and oily skindue to its matte finish, normal skin, and even more problematic skin like sensitive skin. I have mature skin with rosacea and a T-zone that tends to get shiny by the end of the day. This foundation provides impeccable results. It stays in place without migrating, lasting comfortably for 8 hours (the maximum I’ve tested) without needing any touch-ups. It alsocovers my redness and rosacea flare-ups well without drying or irritating the affected areas, which sometimes happens with other matte finish products. After removal, my skin does not show any irritation or dryness. Forparticularly dry skin, due to its matte finish, an emollient base might be necessary before application for an impeccable result.

Sisley’s Phyto-Teint Perfection is a foundation I often return to despite the many products in my collection. This product stands out for its impeccable yet extremely lightweight finish. The staying power is excellent, providing great coverage of imperfections. The final result is natural, imperceptible, truly a second-skin effect as advertised.

Whether continuous use can truly improve skin texture, I cannot confirm. The basic skincare routine remains, in my opinion, the real factor that makes a difference. However, thanks to its formulation, this foundation certainly enhances your basic skincare routine. But is it indispensable as a skincare product? Definitely not, but since the Ideal Skin Complex is present, why not welcome it? As a makeup product, it is highly recommended. One of the best foundations I’ve tried so far. The only downside is the price. If budget is not an issue for you and you love the second-skin effect, this foundation can make a difference in achieving a perfect base.
