Cover Expert by Terry: a good foundation for mature skins

I recently finished my Cover Expert by Terry, a foundation that has been on the market for a while now, whose performance is ideal, if you are looking for discreet luminous effect.

The brand By Terry

For those among you that have no knowledge of this brand, here is a short introduction. We are talking about a French cosmetics brand that is positioned on the high end of the market. Its creator is Terry de Gunzburg, that has been defined by Forbes as a Beauty legend.
Before creating her own brand, she used to work with Yves Saint Laurent, where she was behind the hyper-famous Touch Eclat de YSL. Her sister is the founder of Nuxe.
In 1998 she decided to found her own Brand, “by Terry”, becoming very appreciated for both their skin care products, Baume de Rose above any others, and their make-up products that share some of the typical components of skin care ones.
Indeed, “By Terry”s lipsticks are very comfortable and the same can be said of their foundations.

Cover Expert By Terry

I have tried one of those foundations, Cover Expert, and having finished the whole tube, I feel I am ready to share my impressions.

Cover Expert is advertised as a product for pros, having its strengths in its coverage and its brightness. According to the company, these are due to their I.M.C. technology (Intensive Mimetic Camouflage) that has the ability to control glow and minimize imperfections.

Composition

The glow’s and skin texture’s control effect is due to the spheres of silicon that it contains, while hyaluronic acid helps regenerate the skin.
Here comes the INCI:

Cyclopentasiloxane, Aqua/Water, Dimethicone, Polyethylene, Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Glycerin, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Trisodium Citrate, Butylene Glycol, Boron Nitride, Mica, Tocopherol, Dextrin Palmitate, Phenoxyethanol, Quaternium 90 Bentonite, Talc, Cyclohexasiloxane, Parfum/Fragrance, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Limonene, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Benzyl Salicylate, Hydroxycitronellal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3 Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Geraniol, Eugenol, Citronellol, Cyclotetrasiloxane, Alumina, Lauroyl Lysine, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Methylparaben, Tetrasodium EDTA, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Dehydroacetic Acid, Propylene Glycol, Alcohol, Dimethiconol, Silica, Aluminum Hydroxide, Palmitic Acid, Panthenol, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) Extract, Phoenix Dactylifera (Date) Seed Extract, Silica Dimethyl Silylate, Ruscus Aculeatus Root Extract, Ammonium Glycyrrhizate, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed) Sterols, Prolinamidoethyl Imidazole, Centella Asiatica Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Hydrolyzed Yeast Protein, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hexylene Glycol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Methylparaben, Chlorphenesin, Disodium EDTA, May Contain (+/-): [CI 77499/Iron Oxides, CI 77491/Iron Oxides, CI 77492/Iron Oxides, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide]. (T0122/A).

Although some of the ingredients listed above, as alcohol, PEG and parabens, could potentially irritate the skin, the final effect is actually very confortable.

Characteristics

For a product that is positioned on the high end of its price range, Cover Expert does not have a particularly nice packaging. It comes in a purple plastic tube with silver printing, easy to use, but quite basic.
Its texture is quite fluid without being liquid and has a pleasant flower scent.
It can be easily applied, either with a brush, a sponge or simply using our fingers. As soon as it is applied, its smoothing effect due to the sphere of silicon is immediately apparent, alongside a light moisturizing feeling.
On the contrary, as we said, I didn’t detect any irritation on my skin, despite some of the components could potentially have such impact.
The only downside I could name is its low sunscreen factor SPF15.

Conclusions

Cover Expert can do its job for up to eight hours, however, I would suggest to fix it using some setting powder, as it tends to become a bit shiny in the T-zone, particularly for those with combination skin.
It has got a rather natural finish and an average, although progressive, coverage. In facts, despite its name, the strength of this product lays in its luminosity rather than in its coverage.
For those cases where imperfections are more evident, it will necessary to couple it with a concealer.
On the upside, it is extremely comfortable to wear and it can go quite unnoticed, a feature that makes it suitable to be used during the day.
Beside this, a very uniform and glowy texture that doesn’t highlight wrinkles, but rather helps concealing them, and that is why I would definitely recommend it in case of mature skin.
